About this place
Crumbed and fried only after you order, the signature menchi katsu arrives with a fragrant, crackling crust and rich, flavorful juices. Because the minced meat is well seasoned, it is tempting to take the first bite without any sauce at all to savor the meat on its own terms. The classic Menchi Katsu Set and the great-value Suwachika Lunch come accompanied by a generous bowl of hot tonjiru pork-and-vegetable miso soup, shredded cabbage, and rice for an unpretentious, deeply satisfying meal.
Another perennial favorite is the Menchi Curry Rice. The sauce, infused with the richness of pork and a sharp prickle of spice, clings to a hefty, crispy menchi katsu, whetting the appetite with every mouthful. Adding a fried egg from the side menu lets you break the yolk into the curry, softening the heat into a velvety, decadent bite.
Inside, the restaurant is a cozy, counter-centric space that welcomes solo diners with an easygoing, comfortable feel. Open on weekdays from 11:00 to 20:00, the kitchen turns out beloved yoshoku classics like tonkatsu and ginger pork sets. Note that reservations are not accepted and payment is strictly cash only, so having change on hand is recommended before dropping in for a freshly fried plate.
